Working Through The Tasks

In the afternoon, we continued to work through the prompts at our own pace. I started by working on the prompts 'write five new social rules' and 'invent a new word'.

For the first one, I juxtaposed the corona virus rules to reflect the end of the pandemic and general lack of care for the guidelines people generally have now. For the second one, I made it more personal to reflect a particular behaviour of mine - giggling. I simply wrote these two prompts out on post-it notes to just simply get my point across. In a similar vein, I worked on the prompts 'photograph something damaged and give it a name', 'make a postcard inspired by the title wish you were here' and 'recreate the moment after'.

Emphasising and taking a more political and social perspective, I took a photo of my social media folder on my phone, printed it out and re-named it manually with pen. This was to highlight both the positive and negative elements of social media. I felt this was effective as the manual editing gave the idea of a change of thought and overwhelming nature of social media due its ever changing nature.

For this one, I took a more personal perspective once again and considered how I missed my grandparents over lockdown and having to follow covid guidelines in order to protect them. To further this design, I could have animated the arms with pins so that they moved, but I had a lack of resources to work with.
